HECK! Food were gearing up to celebrate their 10th anniversary of bringing delicious food to plates across the nation, wanting to share their story in conjunction with the release of a new and improved version of their best-selling product.
They tasked us with constructing a brand film which brought to life a beloved mural which sat in their offices, animating the characters and colourful landscape of their Yorkshire farm to share HECK!’s voice, energy and community spirit with the world.
The term ‘Heckade’ was quickly born in the room (to many a groan, but a smug look from Copywriter Dan), and from here we were unstoppable.
With the concurrent goals of the film in mind, a script was developed which told the business’ story in succinct chapters – from humble origins to community support and the crucial announcement. This allowed the 3-minute total film to be edited down to fit a variety of purposes, whilst working as a coherent narrative when watched in full.
Once the story was set, our film and copy departments put their heads together to storyboard out each scene – creating a number of unique situations and setpieces for the animation to follow. The production itself involved copywriter Dan, filmmaker Sam S and animator Callum working closely alongside each other to realise this storyboard, and this remote working extended to conducting voiceover sessions in Yorkshire as a member of the HECK! team took to the booth to retain that family-run charm.
Meanwhile, Idenna’s in-house studio was used to create a number of real-world photography and film assets to sprinkle throughout the production and keep the product in sharp focus – working alongside a chef to ensure the food looked as pristine as possible was a heck of a good time.
What happened next?
Putting all this together, we delivered a master edit and tailored cut-downs of the film, evergreen content fit for a variety of purposes. The main film was launched alongside HECK!’s appearance on the popular BBC show Inside the Factory – being proudly displayed on their website’s About Us page.
30-second edits allowed chapters to be sent individually, whilst 10-15 second square and vertical edits were perfect for the Instagram and TikTok channels that HECK! are so proud of and industry leaders in.
HECK! looked as good as they felt, and used the edits to connect with their audience base through content that is distinctly theirs and like nothing else you’ll see in their market – fit for use for the next heckade, and beyond!
